I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor. I understand that keeping pace with the complexity of the world today can be a challenge, one which presents new issues for us both as individuals and within the family. Counselling offers a confidential and private relationship in which a person of any age can take time to deal with these kind of issues.
Each counselling relationship is different and I appreciate that it may have taken time to reach the decision to seek support. I work individually with children (age 9+), young people and adults on the issues they face, whether these result from a sudden life event or have evolved over time.
I am able to bring my experience to work with you effectively across a range of issues including anxiety, depression, anger, loss, life stages, relationships, illness, death, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, education and workplace difficulties.
When you get in touch to book an initial session I can be available to speak by telephone for up to 20 minutes without charge if you wish. As we progress, we will review how sessions are going to ensure they continue to be helpful in meeting your needs.
As we explore the issues you face, I will help you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and to understand patterns or habits which impact your life. The increased insight you gain can lead to better self-understanding and self-acceptance and help you to make the choices and changes which are right for you - to move your life forwards.
I work from a recognised Person-Centred core which holds key the importance of being listened to in confidence, understood and accepted. I am trained to safely integrate ideas and strategies from other therapeutic approaches and will do so to ensure that our work together is appropriate for you.
The initial session costs £30 and subsequent sessions are £40 each. Payment is by cash, bank transfer or cheque. Sessions last for 50 minutes.
I can offer time-limited counselling or longer term work. Appointments are usually weekly, in a regular timeslot.
I work from a comfortable and accessible ground floor therapy room at the Tashi Centre in Dursley with free public car parking close by.
I can also offer appointments online or by telephone.
I request you provide a minimum of 48 hours notice of a cancellation or the full fee will be charged. Where possible I will try to offer an alternative appointment during the same week.
Notification of a cancellation can be made by call, text or email.
I can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text on
Previously I have been employed as a senior counsellor working with 9-21 year olds and also as a college tutor, teaching adult counselling skills courses. I currently work as a tutor on an advanced specialist training course in counselling children and young people, CPCAB Level 5 Certificate.
Since 2013 I have been a member of the counselling team at a Gloucestershire based counselling charity where I continue to work with both young people and adults.
I take care to ensure that my knowledge and training is kept up to date and I regularly undertake continued professional development through training courses and self-study. I have undertaken specific post-qualifying training to work therapeutically with children and young people.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
